Glutathione is known as the body’s most powerful antioxidant. Glutathione is a tripeptide, it’s naturally produced by the body from three amino acids – Glycine, Cysteine, and Glutamic acid. Glutathione works as a scavenger roaming around the body neutralizing free radicals which are responsible for creating states of “oxidative stress,” which, when in excess, leads to cellular damage, chronic disease, and aging. Adequate glutathione levels are essential to help lower oxidative stress, combat inflammation, create and repair DNA, support mitochondrial function, and modulate a proper immune response. Glutathione levels can easily become depleted by poor nutrition, excess alcohol, stress, medications, aging, certain genetic profiles, and exposure to environmental toxins.
Glutathione is often not well absorbed intracellularly when taken orally since it is easily broken down by the liver and GI tract. The intravenous delivery can be a superior way to increase the cellular uptake of this antioxidant more efficiently, because it enters the bloodstream directly, bypassing the digestive system.
The Detox Blend supports detoxification by mobilizing toxins (such as chemicals, heavy metals, and mycotoxins) out of cells so they can then be removed through the body’s detoxification pathways (lymphatic system, urine, stool, and sweat). Vitamin C is an essential antioxidant that our bodies do not produce naturally; we must consume it through diet or supplementation. Most Americans are able maintain adequate blood levels of vitamin C, but may be deficient intracellularly. Alternatively, we may absorb sufficient dietary vitamin C but it can be used up too quickly or not adequately replenished, leaving us intracellularly depleted.
Our bodies are constantly exposed to various microbes, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungus, as well as a vast array of environmental toxins. A robust immune system maintains adequate natural killer cells that can fight off these microbes so they do not cause infection or illness. Severe infections, chronic illness, and a high toxic burden use up our vitamin C stores very quickly, increasing our demands for more.
Our bodies cannot absorb high amounts of oral vitamin C without causing GI distress or diarrhea. Therefore, administering vitamin C intravenously bypasses the digestive tract and is easily absorbed intracellularly. This allows for much higher doses to be tolerated, which has several benefits.
